General information

Victoriya Georgiyants was born on August 12, 1965 in Kharkiv.

In 1982, she entered the Kharkiv Pharmaceutical Institute (KPhI). From the third year, she became interested in scientific work and joined the student scientific society of the department of pharmaceutical chemistry. She presented the results of her scientific research at scientific conferences both in KPhI and abroad.

In 1987, Victoriya Georgiyants successfully defended her diploma thesis and graduated from the KPhI with honors.

Afterward, she worked as a senior laboratory technician, an assistant at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of KPhI (1987) and continued her scientific experiments on the search for anticonvulsant substances among dicarboxylic acid derivatives under the guidance of the head of the department, professor Petro Bezuhly and professor Igor Ukrainets.

In 1990, Victoriya Georgiyants defended her thesis for the degree of candidate of pharmaceutical sciences on the topic ‘Search for new anticonvulsants among malonic acid derivatives’.

In 1994, she received the title of associate professor of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of KPhI.

From 1999 to 2003, she worked as the head of the scientific-methodical (research) laboratory for pharmaceutical education. During this time, industry standards of higher education were developed with her participation in the following specialties: ‘Pharmacy’, ‘Technology of pharmaceutical preparations’, ‘Clinical pharmacy’, ‘Technology of perfumery and cosmetic products’.

In 2004, Victoriya Georgiyants defended her thesis for the degree of Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences on the topic ‘Targeted synthesis of anticonvulsants in the series of aryl(alkyl)amides of malonic acid’. In her thesis, the scientist summarized all her achievements and the results of the search for anticonvulsants among dicarboxylic acid derivatives. In 2005, she received the title of professor.

During 2004-2009, Victoriya Georgiyants headed the Department of Quality and Standardization of Medicines of the Institute for the Advancement of Qualifications of Pharmacy Specialists (IAQPS), where scientific research on the development and validation of analytical methods for the quality control of industrial and pharmacy drugs began to be conducted under her leadership.

From 2005 to 2008, she held the position of vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work of the National University of Pharmacy (NUPh), and in 2008 she headed the State Enterprise ‘State Scientific Center for Medicines and Medical Products’ (SE ‘SSCMMP’).

Since 2010, Professor Victoriya Georgiyants has been the head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the NUPh.

The head of the initiative scientific research works of the NUPh on the topic ‘Development and validation of methods of quality control of medicinal products of pharmaceutical and industrial production’ (state registration number 0114U000949).

The author of more than 800 scientific and educational and methodological works (together with abstracts), among them: 4 textbooks, 13 training manuals (including 3 in English), 28 methodological recommendations (including 2 in English), nearly 100 patents and copyright certificates, 30 newsletters, more than 400 articles in specialized scientific publications of Ukraine and other countries, of which more than 100 are in publications indexed by Scopus and Web of science databases.
