Department history

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry was founded in 1921 at the Kharkiv Chemical-Pharmaceutical Institute, headed by Doctor of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences, Professor Mykola Ovksentiyovych Valyashko.

Until 1937, the department combined pharmaceutical and forensic chemistry, pharmacognosy, and the synthesis of pharmaceutical and industrial drugs. To perform the research work, a research laboratory was established, which carried out the research, performed the dissertations by post-graduate students and teachers of the department. After the separation of pharmacognosy and forensic chemistry in 1937, the department was headed by Associate Professor T. S. Kusner, but M.O. Valyashko remained the consultant and supervisor.
